SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary today called for expeditious and quality infrastructure development across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Chief Minister, while chairing a high-level review meeting at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, assessed progress on ongoing works being executed under the Capex Budget 2025–26 of the PWD (R&B) Kashmir Division. He emphasised the timely completion of all ongoing developmental projects in the region.
Senior officers, including the Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir, Chief Engineer PWD Central/South/North Kashmir, Chief Engineer Mechanical Engineering & Hospitality Department Kashmir, Superintending Engineers of PMGSY, PWD, MEHD Kashmir and Executive Engineers of the concerned wings, attended the meeting while officers based in Jammu participated virtually.
The Deputy Chief Minister conducted a comprehensive review of roads, bridges, PMGSY and other connectivity-related works presently underway across Kashmir Division.
He issued strict directions for speeding up the execution of all ongoing projects, ensuring the timely clearance of bottlenecks to achieve the targets within the stipulated timelines. He asserted that timely completion of projects must remain the top priority, underscoring that infrastructure development plays a pivotal role in boosting connectivity, improving public convenience and enhancing overall socio-economic growth.
He directed all the engineering wings to intensify monitoring, maintain strict adherence to technical standards and ensure that ongoing works are executed in a transparent, efficient and result-oriented manner.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that the government is keenly focused on accelerating development, with special emphasis on high-quality public infrastructure.
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the need for early completion of rural connectivity works under PMGSY, timely maintenance of road infrastructure before winter intensifies and efficient functioning of mechanical engineering services.
