Srinagar: Several parts of Jammu and Kashmir recorded sub-zero temperatures on Sunday night, with the Meteorological Centre Srinagar predicting dry weather conditions till early December.
In the Kashmir region, Srinagar recorded -3.2°C, Qazigund -2.5°C, Pahalgam -4.0°C, Kupwara -3.2°C, and Gulmarg -1.9°C. Pulwama and Shopian were among the coldest places at -5.0°C and -5.1°C respectively.
Zojila Pass registered -16.0°C. Temperatures in the Jammu region remained above the freezing point, with Jammu at 10.0°C, Katra at 9.2°C, Banihal at -1.2°C, and Bhaderwah at 0.5°C.
In Ladakh, Leh recorded -8.2°C, Kargil -8.6°C, Drass -10.3°C, Nyoma -11.8°C, and Padum -9.3°C.
According to the forecast, the weather is expected to remain generally dry from November 20 to December 1.
Light snowfall is possible over isolated higher reaches on December 2 and 3, followed by another dry spell from December 4 to 10.
The MeT department said shallow to moderate fog may continue at many places in the Kashmir division and isolated areas of Jammu.
It added that maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 1–2°C from November 22 onwards.(KNS)
