DDC Bandipora reviews progress of developmental works

BANDIPORA, JULY 19:   District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today conducted comprehensive review of roads and bridges sector aimed at time-bound targeted completion of vital connectivity projects besides ensuring quality of construction.

SE PWD, CPO, Executive Engineers PWD, DFO, CEO, CMO attended the meeting. Threadbare discussion was held regarding land acquisition, compensation, court cases, tendering process, cost escalation, forest land diversion and quality of construction. The officer reaffirmed the commitment for time-bound completion of projects and finalization of tenders.

The meeting was informed that a total of 48KM road length has been targeted to be blacktopped and another 37KM WBM during the current financial year under Capex sectors, apart from 870 drains. Under Cities and Towns scheme, 24 roads have been taken up this year which includes 25KM blacktopping.

Giving further details about the projects to be taken in district, the officers said that the four projects in Bandipora constituency to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.80 Cr including Kehnusa-Rajpora road, Kehnusa-Zurimanz road, upgradation of Bonkot-Tanghat road and construction of approach road and a bridge in Athwatoo; 7 projects of Sonawari constituency will be completed at a cost of Rs. 39 Cr include Baharbad/Khamina and Kathpora road, upgradation of Sumbal-Wangipora/Nesbal/Arampora/Dompore and allied link roads, Naidkhai Kanipora road, Gundiboon to Khumina and allied links, Ganisthan, Hajin-Banyari, Hajin-Saderkote/Shahgund road and Paribal bridge.

The meeting also informed that 8 schemes worth Rs.21 Cr are targeted to be completed in Gurez constituency which include Gopanwath road, Saradab TatroonKhatroon road, Badugam to Wazirthal, Kanzalwan-Tarbal road and bridges at Dawar, Gujran and Dangithal apart from inspection hut at Dawar.

Out of eight conceived projects costing Rs 102 crore, work on 6 projects has been started in the district under Central Road Fund (Scheme) tendering is under process for 2 projects. These roads include Nadihal-Erin, Safapora-Ajas, Ajas-Sonarwani, widening of Bandipora-Athwatoo, widening of Safapora-Hakbara and Wanpora-Markoot road apart from bridges at Zalpora Sumbal and Arin Nallah. A total of 22 other bridges are targeted for completion this year. The DDC directed for completion of District Hospital, other hospital buildings and vital ongoing roads by September/October 2018. Meanwhile timelines were also fixed for a number of projects in Health and Education sector.
