Kupwara: A joint search operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Border Security Force (BSF) led to the recovery of six hand grenades from a forested area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.
Officials said the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of a militant hideout in the Jabri forest area of Tangdhar sector. During the search, security personnel discovered a cache containing six grenades concealed in the dense forest.
The grenades were destroyed on the spot by bomb disposal experts as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident.
The area remains under tight surveillance, and further searches are being conducted to rule out the presence of additional caches or hideouts. (KNT)
