JAMMU: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level meeting to review the status of remaining projects under the Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP), emphasizing strict adherence to the extended completion deadline of August 2026.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary took a detailed, project-wise appraisal of all ongoing works and sought specific timelines for their completion. He directed the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) to ensure that all projects are completed well before the extended deadline and instructed the agency to submit weekly progress reports for his review.

The ACS Planning, Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, informed that out of 213 projects undertaken under the JTFRP, 202 have been completed, while 10 are currently in progress and one project is at the tendering stage. He apprised that an expenditure of ₹1580 crore has been incurred so far under the project, resulting in the creation of vital and sustainable infrastructure that had been damaged during the 2014 floods.

Providing further details, the CEO ERA, Shreya Singhal, briefed the meeting on the progress of key ongoing works. She informed that the work on additional Block at LD Hospital is presently underway and is expected to be completed up to the base isolator level by December 15, achieving 20% cumulative progress so far. She added that in order to expedite the progress pre-engineered structural components are being fabricated in Haryana, and installation at site is scheduled to commence by the end of December this year.

Regarding the bridges in Baramulla District it was added that the construction of five bridges at Shrakawara, Wahdina, WazaMohallah (Kreeri), Wagoora, and Trikolbal Pattan is at an advanced stage and is targeted for completion by December 2025.

With respect to the completion of State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) it was revealed that the project has achieved 80% progress in civil works and 35% in electromechanical works. The remaining components are being expedited to ensure timely completion.

The meeting was also informed that the JKMSCL has been requested to accelerate the procurement of additional equipment for the Bone & Joint Hospital, ensuring readiness within the stipulated timeframe.

It was further apprised that consultancy services for preparing the feasibility study and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for flood mitigation and comprehensive river management measures for the Jhelum and Tawi river basins are progressing well and are expected to be completed within the given schedule.

The Chief Secretary reiterated the importance of the timely execution of the remaining projects under JTFRP. He stressed on continuous monitoring, inter-departmental coordination, and proactive removal of bottlenecks to ensure that all works are completed within the extended deadline, thereby enhancing the resilience of J&K’s infrastructure against future disasters.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Planning, Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma; Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works Department; Principal Secretary, Home; Secretary, Health & Medical Education; Managing Director, JKMSCL; Chief Executive Officer, J&K ERA, Shreya Singhal; and other senior officers.
