Srinagar: Police have arrested five drug peddlers in separate operations in Anantnag and Pulwama and seized a “significant quantity” of contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that Abdul Wahid Khan of Cheni Chowk and Amir Yousaf Khan of Maliknag Anantnag, were arrested at Beig Bagh, Sarnal after 641 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from their possession.
At Krangsoo village, 7.6 kgs of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from the possession of Kaiser Shakeel Wani and Firdous Ahmad Poya, both residents of Pehroo. Both persons were arrested, police said.
In Pulwama, 266.5 grams of cannabis powder was recovered from the possession of Sharik Ahmad Dar of Litter, who was also arrested.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for investigations, police said.
