Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Pulwama and Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that Mohammad Ashraf Naik of Ghat Gulzarpora and Abdul Qayoom Mir of Gudoora, were arrested at Gudoora Crossing in Pulwama after about 7 kgs of poppy-straw were recovered from their possession.
At Singo Narbal, 77.5 grams of cannabis-like substance were recovered from Ishfaq Ahmad Hafiz of Pricho Pulwama, who was subsequently arrested.
In Shopian, at Heff Kuri, police arrested Tariq Ahmad Sheikh of Heff Zainapora after 3.6 kgs of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigation, police said.
