Pulwama: The Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Pulwama, Dr. Noor Mohammad Mir, convicted a former Junior Engineer of the Rural Development Department in a 25-year-old corruption case for tampering with official service records.
The case, registered under FIR No. 24/2000 by the then Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (now Anti-Corruption Bureau), pertained to the manipulation of the accused’s service book and date of birth to unlawfully extend his service tenure.
After a detailed trial spanning over two decades, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of ₹3,52,760 to compensate the loss suffered by the government.
The conviction was recorded under Sections 420, 467, and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code, and Sections 5 and 2 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. (KNT)
