SRINAGAR: The Government today informed the Legislative Assembly that the District Level Committee, Doda, has assessed the damage and prepared Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for slope stabilisation and restoration works estimated at ₹171.14 lakh.

Minister Sakeena Itoo was replying to the Calling Attention Motion moved by MLA Shakti Raj Parihar regarding the situation arising due to land sinking in Bari–Sadra Bag villages of Mundhar Lower A Panchayat in Tehsil Kastigarh, District Doda. However, the motion was presented in the House by MLA Rajeev Jasrotia in his absence.

Minister informed that adequate measures have been taken to address the situation arising out of land sinking in the Bari–Sadra Bag villages.

The minister said that the District Level Committee, comprising officials from Revenue, PMGSY, Soil Conservation and Agriculture Department, visited the site to assess the damages and recommended measures for slope stabilisation for safeguarding public life and property.

The measures include realignment/restoration of washed-out road (Gugwaha Parshall to Banjar Morh Shamthi via Kastigarh Bari road, check dams, crate work, plantation, patch sowing, protection walls and drains.

It further stated that the affected area falls in Revenue Village Mundhar, which has a history of landslides and land subsidence since 2013. The situation aggravated due to recent spells of heavy rainfall, and on October 18, 2025, massive land sinking damaged around 200 metres of road stretch, posing risk to nearly 35 households.

The minister said that the government immediately evacuated all families in the Red Zone  to nearby safe locations, including school buildings and Panchayat Ghars, where ration and relief materials were provided.

Regarding providing of relief for the damaged structures and agriculture land, the government stated that the it is under process and being considered by the committee for disbursal of relief under SDRF norms.

Government further said that an expert interdepartmental committee has been suggested for long-term measures, besides Geological and Mining Department and Geological Survey of India have been requested for detailed inspection and recommendations.
