SRINAGAR: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, today said that the government has taken adequate measures to address the issue of inadequate water supply in Humhama and adjoining areas.
He informed the Legislative Assembly that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth ₹129.90 crore for the construction of an additional 4 MGD Plant to augment the Doodh Ganga Plant at Kralpora-which supplies water to Humhama, has been submitted to the Housing and Urban Development Department for approval.
The Minister was replying to the Calling Attention Motions moved by legislators Qaysar Jamshaid Lone, Saifullah Mir, and Hilal Akbar Lone regarding the insufficient water supply to Friends Enclave, Humhama.
Responding to the motions, Minister Rana said that the proposal under AMRUT 2.0 has been sent for approval to provide a permanent solution for the augmentation of the existing Doodh Ganga Plant, keeping in mind the future needs of the areas, including Humhama.
He informed that the Friends Enclave area in Humhama, Srinagar, is currently supplied by the Doodh Ganga and Sukhnag Water Supply Schemes (WSS). However, as it is at the tail end of both networks, the area experiences low service levels.
The Minister added that the issue is presently being mitigated through the deployment of water tankers as and when required.
