Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Wednesday constituted a 13-member panel after consultation with diverse stakeholders to ensure broader representation and inclusive participation in the dialogue process over the reservation issue, the students’ body said in a press release here.

It said the panel will engage with both the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Central government on matters related to the reservation policy.

The panel will hold formal discussions with government authorities and other stakeholders to address concerns and share recommendations regarding the reservation policy and recruitment-related issues affecting students and job aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir, JKSA said.

It said the 13-member panel comprises Nasir Khuehami, Umar Jamal, Peerzada Mahboob ul Haq, Dr. Zubair Reshi, Dr. Nazia Israr, Faizan Peer, Mir Mujeeb, Dr. Saqib, Er. Eithsham, Umar Keel, Muhuib Makhdoomi, Umar Masoodi, and Mubashir Ahmad. Dr. Zubair Reshi will serve as the chairman of the panel, while Umar Jamal will serve as the chief spokesperson, and Faizan Peer as the coordinator, the press release informed.

The Association emphasized that the formation of this “inclusive panel” reflects the collective commitment of youth representatives from diverse academic and social backgrounds to pursue a constructive, transparent, and consultative approach in addressing the issue.

JKSA said “our aim is to work collectively with the government to ensure that the concerns of all communities and student groups are addressed in a fair and balanced manner.”

The committee is mandated to review the sub-committee’s report in detail, engage with government authorities, and propose actionable recommendations that align with the aspirations and rights of the students of Jammu and Kashmir. It added that empowering young people to engage in open and constructive discussions strengthens democracy and builds trust between the administration and the younger generation.

The 13-member committee will commence its work immediately and is expected to present its feedback and recommendations within the stipulated time frame, following consultations with the government and other stakeholders.

The Association stands for meaningful engagement and believes that dialogue is the most effective way to bridge misunderstandings and arrive at an equitable solution.

The Association will soon seek an appointment with the government to formally present its suggestions and feedback. “We hope that this step will pave the way for greater clarity, inclusivity, and a policy framework that safeguards the interests of all sections,” JKSA added.
