SRINAGA: On the eve of Deepawali and the annual Urs of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA), leaders extended warm greetings and conveyed messages of peace, harmony, and prosperity to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha greeted citizens on Deepawali, expressing hope that the festival of lights would inspire compassion, righteousness, and collective progress. “Deepawali reminds us that knowledge conquers darkness and lights the lamp of wisdom. May the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesh, and Lord Ram bring happiness and prosperity to every home,” he said.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended greetings on both occasions. Wishing people a joyous Diwali, he said the festival strengthens bonds of brotherhood and harmony, and urged everyone to celebrate with unity and compassion.
Marking the Urs of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA), Omar Abdullah described the revered saint as a symbol of communal harmony and spiritual enlightenment whose teachings continue to guide generations. He urged people to follow Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani’s (RA) message of simplicity, tolerance, and compassion for lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
