The focus was on ensuring compliance with food safety standards, proper hygiene practices, and consumer protection regulations.

The inspection covered multiple critical aspects including quality verification, quantity verification, cleanliness and hygiene standards, proper product dating and labelling, and overall food safety compliance.

Officials from the Legal Metrology Department conducted thorough checks on measurement accuracy and quantity standards. The inspection results were largely satisfactory, with no major violations discovered.

Minor issues were identified at some establishments, for which warnings were issued. The Food & Safety Department imposed compound fines for minor violations to ensure strict compliance.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Director Enforcement reaffirmed the department’s unwavering commitment to consumer rights and safety, emphasizing that regular inspection drives are being conducted to maintain transparency and accountability. “All departments are working in close coordination to protect consumer interests and to ensure that food establishments maintain the highest standards of hygiene and quality,” he said.

Citizens have been urged to report any complaints related to food quality, safety, or malpractices through the toll-free helplines and official social media handles of the FCS&CA, Food Safety, and Legal Metrology Departments.

The department reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the highest standards of food safety and consumer protection across all establishments in the region.
