Samba: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and senior BJP leader Ghulam Ali Khatana today paid a surprise visit to flood-affected areas of District Samba, including Khara Madana, Pringnal Gujjar Basti, Talab Shama, Jaiswal, Rajput Mohalla, Keuli (Katwalta), Peer Chatala Dangal, and Bari Brahmana, to assess the ground situation and extend support to the affected families.
Khatana strongly criticized the Omar Abdullah-led government for its past failures in providing even temporary road connectivity, ensuring timely restoration of water supply, and conducting proper damage assessments during calamities.
During his visit, Khatana interacted with residents, heard their concerns firsthand, and assured them of timely relief and rehabilitation measures. He emphasized that no effort would be spared in ensuring immediate assistance as well as long-term restoration for the affected population.
The MP was accompanied by officials from multiple departments, including the Tehsildar, PWD (R&B), Rural Development Department (RDD), Flood & Irrigation Department, Power Development Department (PDD), Agriculture Department, Revenue Department, Jal Shakti (PHE), Police Department, Food & Civil Supplies Department, PMGSY, Education Department, Social Welfare Department, Forest Department, SDRF, Sports Department, ICDS, and Health Department.
Political leaders and local representatives present during the visit included Ch. Mushtaq Inqalabi, National Secretary (Tribal, BJP); former BDC Arshad Begum; Adv. Ch. Mohd Riyaz and Sulaman; Mandal Pardhans Tara Chand, Ram Saroop, Bansi Lal Chand, Choudhary, Molvi Noor, Hasan Mohd, Mohd Yonas, and Baripul Singh; and Riyaz Ahmed (BJP).
Reaffirming the central government’s commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people in times of crisis, Khatana assured that both short-term relief and long-term rehabilitation measures would be expedited.
