Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, on Monday said that more than 1.37 lakh metric tons of fresh fruits have been shipped out of the Valley during the past ten days using the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, Mughal Road, and railway parcel services.

Addressing the media in the presence of IGP Traffic M. Suleman Choudhary, Garg said that nearly 1,500 to 2,000 trucks loaded with fruits gather daily in the Valley and are sent towards Jammu in rotation through the highway and Mughal Road to manage traffic more smoothly.

He added that truck movement on the highway has now increased sharply, with around 3,500 to 4,000 vehicles passing every day, compared to the earlier average of 1,500 to 2,000.

According to KNS, He said that the parcel train service to Delhi has provided significant relief, with 800 to 1,000 tons of fruits being sent daily through this route.

On essential commodities, Garg said that there is no shortage. “Petrol, diesel, LPG, and food supplies are available for at least a week. People should not panic as stocks are being replenished on a regular basis, and all arrangements are being closely monitored,” he said. (KNS)
