SRINAGAR: Several delegations and individuals today called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and apprised him of issues concerning public welfare, infrastructure, education, and women’s empowerment.
Darshan Kumar, Member of Legislative Assembly from Basohli, met the Lt Governor and raised matters related to the restoration of road infrastructure damaged due to recent floods and heavy rains, besides welfare measures for the affected families.
Saima Jan and Anayat Ullah Rather, Members District Development Council from BK Pora, Budgam and Frisal, Kulgam, also called on the Lt Governor. Later, a delegation of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) led by its National General Secretary K.K Sharma, along with members of Magam Civil Society, held discussions with the Lt Governor.
A delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Jammu Kashmir unit, submitted a representation to the Lt Governor seeking rescheduling of the J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC) examinations in view of the recent natural calamities in the Union Territory.
Atul Bhai Kothari, National Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, accompanied by office bearers of the organization and faculty members of different universities of Jammu and Kashmir, also met the Lt Governor.
Meanwhile, noted women’s rights activist Irfana Zargar, popularly known as the Padwoman of Kashmir, called on the Lt Governor and briefed him about her ongoing initiatives for women’s empowerment in the Valley.
