Srinagar: Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, on Monday said that as per reports, the fruit industry of Kashmir Valley has suffered losses of 1500 Cr, and the Omar Abdullah government looks unmoved.
In a statement issued here, he said that whether it is road closure or bad weather, he will not put the government responsible for it, but there has been no post-response, no one has spoken about it.
“The government should go and meet the Prime Minister and push for immediate action for movement of fruit-laden trucks,” he said.
He said that the Chief Minister was sitting in Kochi. “What was he doing there? The government first should look at this industry, arrange trains. We can put all our energy into that. This was the time to act,” he said.
“Ministry is not about transferring employees, sending people into remote areas for not voting in their favor. That is not the strength of a ministry. The real question is, will the horticulture minister come? Will the roads minister come? They should be sitting on the highway, available 24 hours. Instead, there is just this circus, a continuous circus,” he said.
Reacting to PSA on MLA Mehraj Malik, Lone said that Malik rose from the ground. “He is not from an elite class, not someone privileged. Earlier, inside the Assembly premises, BJP people attacked him. Since 1947, for the first time, non-MLAs, those with PDP, also attacked him. Now what is the point of crying? His humiliation started there itself,” he said.
