Kashmir police chief asks cops to adopt people-friendly attitude

Srinagar, Jul 15: Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Swayam Prakash Pani on Sunday asked policemen to adopt people-friendly attitude while doing their duties.

Pani made these remarks during his visit to District Police Lines in north Kashmir’s Handwara area where he held an interaction with the cops, a police spokesperson said.

Pani said with the people-friendly attitude, the relation between police and people could get a fillip in right direction which eventually will help police in better understanding of the problems faced by people and the speedy disposal of their grievances.

“IGP also emphasized on the officials and policemen to ensure accountability, and discharge their responsibilities with due care and caution,” the police spokesperson said.

Pani, according to spokesperson, while commenting on the importance of, and need for transparency in the functioning of police, emphasized the role and utility of the modern technology in ushering transparency in the functioning of Police department.

“He stressed on the officials for adoption of modern technology for better and transparent policing which is result-oriented and people-friendly,” spokesman said.

Welfare measures initiated by the department for the policemen were also discussed.

The IGP also visited Handwara police station and made a casual inspection there, spokesman said, dding the functioning of CCTNS project of the police station was reviewed.

Pertinently, Police Station Handwara is one among the several other police stations in Valley, which have started updating their work on the online platform, the police spokesperson added.
