RFS Srinagar launches Special Campaign 5.0 with “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”

Srinagar: The Regional Fodder Station (RFS), Srinagar, under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAHD), Government of India, has launched Special Campaign 5.0 with a tree plantation drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”. 

In line with the Government of India’s directives, RFS Srinagar has undertaken Special Campaign 5.0, focusing on cleanliness (Swachhata) and disposal of pendency. As part of the campaign’s inauguration, a tree plantation drive, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was launched at RFS Srinagar today. The initiative symbolises respect for the nurturing spirit of motherhood while reinforcing environmental stewardship.

The plantation drive was inaugurated by Shri V.P. Singh, Director (Animal Husbandry Statistics), DAHD, MoFAHD, Government of India, New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh underscored the importance of integrating cleanliness, sustainability, and green initiatives with the department’s broader goals of rural development and livestock productivity. He emphasised that such initiatives not only contribute to environmental well-being but also inspire communities to embrace eco-friendly practices. 

RFS Srinagar plays a pivotal role in enhancing farmers’ knowledge and skills in fodder cultivation, conservation, and utilization. Its mandate extends to Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, with the objective of equipping farmers with scientific practices in fodder management to ensure year round availability of nutritious feed for livestock, thereby improving animal health and enhancing farmers’ livelihoods.

The campaign will be conducted in two distinct phases; preparatory Phase from 15th September to 30th September 2025 and Implementation Phase 2nd October to 31st October 2025. 

During the Preparatory Phase, the key activities to be undertaken are; Identification of pending references, Identification and segregation of scrap materials, Streamlining and management of physical and digital records, Identification and listing of e-waste for proper disposal, Launch of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation campaign. 

These activities will be fully implemented during the Implementation Phase, with a focus on achieving tangible outcomes in cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and administrative efficiency.
