Baramulla: Legendary former Indian cricket captain and globally renowned batsman Mohammad Azharuddin visited Baramulla today to participate in a Cricket Coaching and Batting Skills Camp organised by Human Aid Society in collaboration with the Indian Army and District Sports Council.
The camp was expertly conducted under the supervision of renowned sports physician Dr. Aijaaz Ashai
Before arriving at the stadium, Azharuddin paid tribute at the Khawaja Bagh Army War Memorial, honouring the martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of the Nation. He also met with officers and personnel of the 46 RR and 19 Artillery Division, praising their dedication and service. A breakfast session was held with 46 RR officers, followed by a luncheon with 19 Artillery Division officers.
At General Bipan Rawath Stadium, Baramulla, Azharuddin received a grand welcome from the public, youth cricketers, and local cricket enthusiasts.
He was personally greeted by distinguished guests: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Shirpa (Guest of Honour), Colonel Akash Menon (Commanding Officer, 19 Artillery Division, Guest of Honour), Haji Karamat Qayoom (Patron HAS and Chairman, Baramulla Working Journalists Association, Guest of Honour), Bashir Ahmad Mir (Founder & Chairman, Human Aid Society)
“Baramulla is a historic and peaceful district where people are cooperative and always ready to support initiatives promoting sports and community welfare,” said Deputy Commissioner Baramulla.
“The work of Human Aid Society is truly commendable. It not only supports communities but also guides youth toward a brighter future. I am always ready to support the mission of this organisation and contribute in every possible way,” said Azharuddin.
Azharuddin spent about an hour interacting with the public and cricket enthusiasts in the General Bipan Rawath Indoor Stadium. He then conducted a two-hour coaching session at the All-Weather Nets, providing guidance to under-19 cricketers to help them excel nationally and internationally.
Appreciation awards were presented by Mohammad Azharuddin to coordinators, coaches, and program partners for their outstanding service in making the camp a success: Abid Salam Rather (Ex-Ranji Player, Camp Coordinator), Arif Katari (Vice Coordinator, Owner of Sultan Warriors Baramulla).
Azharuddin and Dr. Aijaz Ashai, accompanied by the Chairman of Human Aid Society, visited the Army Chinar Skill Training Club, where they appreciated the skills of young Kashmiri boys and girls and encouraged the development of their talent.
Azharuddin visited the Human Aid Society office and interacted with members, volunteers, and its sponsors of orphan children.
