Sub Divisional Police Office (SDPO), Doru Pankaj Sudhan presided over the final day’s proceedings as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Sudhan said that Drug and Substance abuse among youth is a major cause of concern, which demands a collective and coordinated response from all the stakeholders.

He identified peer pressure and thrill-seeking behaviour in adolescents as major factors triggering first-time exposure to drugs and narcotic substances. He impressed upon parents and teachers to monitor the activities of youths for early identification of sudden behavioural changes. He said vigilant parents and teachers have an important role in the fight against drug and substance abuse.

He also gave a detailed presentation on New Criminal Laws, highlighting the landmark changes the three new legislations have introduced in the criminal jurisprudence of the country.

Senior Advocate and Rural Sanitation activist, Farooq Ahmad Ganaie, also presented an overview of three New Criminal Laws and pointed out how the new laws are expected to make justice delivery fast and transparent.

He also discussed the vision behind other initiatives of the government, especially Mission LiFE and Swachhata Hi Seva, highlighting how the two are interrelated and complementary. He impressed upon the participants particularly the youth to ensure that their activities and lifestyle choices don’t compromise the well being of future generations.

As part of the integrated communication strategy adopted by the CBC for information delivery, participants also visited a theme-based photo exhibition wherein information about Mission LiFE, New Criminal Laws and Swachhata Hi Seva was displayed. The empanelled cultural troupe of CBC also presented a skit based on community participation in cleanliness and nature conservation.

Others who attended the concluding ceremony were Sheikh Tariq Hussain, Principal Government Model Higher Secondary School, Doru, Naseer ul Haq, Zonal Education Officer, Doru and Sh Amit Khaujria, Deputy Superintendent of Police(Prob.), Doru.
