  Rural Credit Workshop under Kisan Sampark Abhiyan held at Chadoora

SRINAGAR: In a significant move to raise awareness among the farming community about various government schemes and initiatives, SKUAST-K, KVK Budgam, organised a Rural Credit Workshop under the ongoing Kisan Sampark Abhiyan under JKCIP at Panzan Chadoora.

Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof. (Dr.) Raihana Habib Kanth presided over as the chief guest and interacted with farmers, stressing the crucial role of rural credit in empowering farmers and strengthening the agricultural sector. She emphasised the importance of government schemes and urged farmers to take full advantage of the opportunities provided.

She appreciated the efforts of KVK Budgam in creating awareness among farmers about various government-sponsored schemes and institutional credit facilities.

The event witnessed good participation of farmers from across the Chadoora areas, who were briefed on various government schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, livestock production, dairy, and allied sectors. The workshop aimed to educate farmers about the financial and technical assistance available to them and to encourage their active involvement in developmental programs.

The programme featured detailed sessions by several resource persons from KVK Budgam and Agriculture & allied departments, including Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone, Prof.& Head, KVK Budgam; Dr. Farooq Ahmad Ganie, CAHO Budgam; Mohammad Muzaffar Mir, SDAO Chadoora; Scientists from KVK Budgam including Dr. Shabir Ahmad, Dr. Iram Farooq, Dr. Kavita Rani, representative from JKCIP Dr. Irfan Gani and other officials from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry departments.

These experts shared valuable insights on a range of UT-sponsored schemes, focusing on improving farm productivity, access to markets, technological interventions and institutional support.
