Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Shopian and Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
At Aglar near Fruit Mandi, three persons — Suhail Ahmad Rather, son of Tariq Ahmad Rather of Tak Mohalla, Shopian; Maroof Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Nabi Wani of Kiloora Malikgund, and Firdous Ahmad Alaie, son of Abdul Gani Alaie of Melhura – were arrested after approximately 1.5 kgs of cannabis-like substance was recovered from their possession. The car (JK02BM-7222) they were travelling in was also seized, police said.
At Bus Stand Crossing Handwara, one Feroz Ahmad War, son of Abdul Majeed War of Kultoora, Langate, was arrested and his vehicle (JK09-8927) seized after 9.64 grams of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for investigations, police said.
