IGNOU–NIELIT collaborate to launch free skill development prog for students in J&K and Ladakh

Srinagar: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre Srinagar has partnered with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Srinagar to offer a free skill development programme for IGNOU students under the project “Skill Development for Digital J&K & Ladakh.”

The initiative aims to train 9,450 candidates over a period of three years in high-demand digital technologies. In its initial phase, training will commence in the NSQF Level 3 course titled “Cloud Computing Assistant” with a duration of 300 hours. The course will follow a blended mode of delivery—40% online and 60% offline. The minimum eligibility is 10th pass, and each batch will accommodate 30 participants.

The training will be conducted free of cost at NIELIT Srinagar’s state-of-the-art facilities. Enrolled students will receive a free study kit for both theoretical and practical learning. The programme includes job-readiness support such as aptitude assessments, soft skills training, mock interviews, personalized mentoring, and industry interaction. Hostel facilities will be available on a chargeable basis.

Free job fairs will also be organized in collaboration with industry partners. Successful candidates will receive a nationally recognized certification upon completion. Interested students can visit https://www.nielit.gov.in/srinagar or contact +91-9906815499 for further details.

Dr. A. H. Rizvi, Regional Director, IGNOU Srinagar, and Shri Ashaq Hussain Dar, Director, NIELIT Srinagar, emphasized that the collaboration is expected to significantly enhance the employability and digital competencies of IGNOU learners across Kashmir and Ladakh region.
