Flood Control Anantnag issues notice for removal of encroachments along Nallah Brengi and Sandran

Anantnag: The Executive Engineer, Flood Control Anantnag, has issued a strict public notice (Ref: FCD/A/20/2024/905, dated 21-07-2025), directing the immediate removal of trees and newly constructed residential structures along the banks of Nallah Brengi and Nallah Sandran.

Residents of the concerned villages have been instructed to clear all encroachments, including trees and structures, within twenty days. The department has made it clear that no new construction will be allowed within 100 meters of the mainstream and 50 meters of its branches.

In case of violations, illegal constructions will be demolished under the Water Resources Management Act 2010, and the cost of removal will be recovered from the violators.

The department stated that the move is aimed at reducing flood risks and ensuring the smooth flow of water during heavy rainfall. Flood Control authorities have clarified that no appeals will be entertained once the deadline expires.

The notice has been served to the following areas Hanji Danter, Pushwara, Nowathoo, Rohu, Monghal, T.B. Shah, Muniward, Harnag.

Residents have been urged to comply immediately with the directive to avoid legal action and penalties.
