Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.

PMO India posted on X: “Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri @manojsinha, met Prime Minister @narendramodi.”

Though details about the meeting were not made public, it is believed that LG discussed the current security and developmental situation of J&K with the PM.

The ongoing smooth Amarnath Yatra too was in the focus, and the LG is supposed to have told the PM about all necessary steps taken by his administration to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage.

Pertinently, LG Sinha met PM Modi a day after he stated that J&K’s statehood would be restored at an appropriate time, as promised by the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The meeting assumes significance against the backdrop of the recent developments that have taken place after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians dead.

Soon after the attack, India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, 2025 and destroyed nine terrorist camps deep inside Pakistan and PoK. It led to a series of skirmishes between India and Pakistan that continued till May 10. Both countries announced a ceasefire after Pakistan’s DGMO approached his counterpart in India and sought an end to hostilities.

As the dust has settled, tourists have returned to Kashmir and within 14 days of the ongoing annual Amarnath pilgrimage, more than 2.5 lakh devotees have paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine.
