JKEDI trains first exclusive batch of 47 aspiring female entrepreneurs

Srinagar, July 11: The first women exclusive batch of 47 aspiring entrepreneurs passed out of the Centre for Women Entrepreneurship, Kashmir (CWE-K), a program vertical of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) after completing the three-week Entrepreneurship Development Program, a press release issued here by the Institute said.

The press release further added that the aspirants were trained for entrepreneurship development at Centre for Women Entrepreneurship (CWE) Kashmir here at Press Enclave under sectors including agri-allied, manufacturing and services. “The aspirants have chosen activities like manufacturing of readymade garments, commercial laundry, baking training institute, saloons, mushroom spawn production, preparatory schools, boutiques, dairy, sheep and poultry farming as their lines of activity,” the press release said.

The trained aspirants hailed the designed curriculum for the program, the press release claimed.

Speaking at the valediction, Dr. M.I Parray, Director, JKEDI said that unemployment was a serious threat for the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the jobs available were very few resulting in a dilemma for even the government as only a few can find place in the government sector. “Entrepreneurship is the only solution to this chronic problem,” Dr. Parray said and congratulated the aspiring female entrepreneurs for taking timely and life changing decision by choosing entrepreneurship as their career choice. The Director promised the trained candidates speedy disbursement of funds to enable them to start their business ventures.

EDP (training) is part of the Institute’s ongoing process to reach every nook and corner of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and equip the unemployed youth with life sustainable business skills. The EDP is generally aimed at providing lessons on skill development, performance improvement as well as business cum sector specific and self-development training to the participating youth.

As part of EDP the participants hailing from different districts of Kashmir division were deputed for field visits, business incubations and market survey as well.
