Dir Agriculture reviews implementation of farmers’ welfare schemes

JAMMU, JULY 11:  Director Agriculture Jammu H. K. Razdan today visited Ramban and Banihal areas and reviewed the implementation of ongoing farmers’ welfare schemes and programmes in the district.

He also chaired a review meeting of officers and field functionaries at and passed on the instructions given by Advisor to Governor   Khurshid Ahmad Ganai to create awareness among the farmers with respect to various technological advances and outreach to the field to improve this vital sector.

He asked the field functionaries to create awareness regarding various ongoing farmers’ welfare schemes and programmes.

Implementation and progress of various farmers’ welfare schemes including Soil Health Card Scheme (SCHS), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) were also reviewed. He stressed on diversification and adoption of Integrated Farming System through convergence of different schemes and referred the application of sprinkler and Drip irrigation system to achieve the objective of “Per Drop More Crop” under PMKSY in the Vegetable Production Belt in this regard.

The Director also reviewed implementation of DBT in fertilizers and progress in use of POS devices for their sale. He stressed upon the need of promoting the local specialties including solai honey, summer peas, rajmash and vegetables etc.

He also instructed the staff to follow the guidelines and norms while implementing various farmers’ welfare schemes.

Razdan instructed the Chief Agriculture Officer and other District Officer to monitor the attendance of all the subordinate offices through the Biometric System.

Earlier, the director inspected Vegetable Improvement Farm, Thathar, Banihal which is the only farm of the Temperate Zone of Jammu Division for the vegetable seed production. He directed the Farm Staff to make all out efforts to optimize and improve the seeds of vegetables as per seed certification norms.

The meeting at Ramban was also attended by K. K. Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer, Ramban, h Subash Sharma, District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Ramban, Ilyas Gattu, ASCO, Ramban, Madan Gopal Singh, SDAO, Ramban, P. K. Nagar, Subject Matter Specialist, K. K. Khuda, SCA, Agriculture Extension Officers, Jr AEOs and AEAs.
