‘Uniting Against Plastic Pollution’

Kulgam: The World Environment Day Campaign-2025 came to a successful conclusion at the Govt. Degree College Kulgam with a grand celebration on June 5, 2025. The campaign, themed “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally” with the slogan “One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution,” featured expert speakers from across the country who shared their insights with students.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Mohd Abass Shah highlighted the importance of such initiatives in protecting humanity from the harmful effects of plastic pollution. Prof. (Dr.) Javeed Iqbal Ahmad Bhat delivered a keynote presentation, detailing the consequences of plastic pollution and strategies for mitigation.

Other notable speakers, Dr. Rinku Verma and Dr. Suhaib Ahmad Bandh, presented their views on the theme, emphasizing the need for collective action. Dr. Gowhar Hamid Dar, Head of the Department of Environmental Science, presented data on plastic pollution, underscoring the urgency of the issue.

The event was attended by students and faculty members, including Dr. Shaista Masarat, Prof. Shamim Ahmad Hakim, Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Wachkoo, and Dr. Ahsan Ul Haq Ahrar. Dr. Aadil Hamid proposed the vote of thanks, concluding the event on a note of renewed commitment to environmental sustainability.
