This initiative forms a crucial part of the district’s comprehensive strategy to address the rising menace of drug addiction, especially among the younger population. The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and members of the broader community.

A variety of awareness activities were held, including interactive sessions, rallies, essay writing and debate competitions, as well as pledge-taking ceremonies. These events were held in several institutions, including the Government Degree College Boys Khanabal and the Government. Degree College Mattan.

The primary aim of the campaign was to inform students about the devastating effects of drug abuse on physical, mental, and social well-being, besides to empowering them to act as change-makers within their families and communities.

Special sessions conducted by experts, teachers and students provided valuable insights into the challenges posed by substance addiction. These sessions were further enriched by real-life testimonials and case studies, shedding light on the grave consequences of drug abuse.

In addition, to mark the occasion of World Environment Day, the Department of Youth Services and Sports organised a Walkathon, during which participants raised slogans against drug abuse, further reinforcing the campaign’s core message.

The district administration emphasized the importance of community involvement in sustaining the momentum of the anti-drug campaign. Educational institutions were encouraged to maintain continued engagement and adopt early intervention strategies for at-risk youth.

As part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, more awareness activities are scheduled to take place on designated focus days to ensure consistent public outreach and mobilization across the district.
