The director emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, availability of clean drinking water, and proper shelter for animals, especially in crowded market conditions.

Veterinary officers present at the site were directed to maintain round-the-clock services to attend to any cases of illness or distress among the livestock.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shah stated, “Our department is committed to safeguarding the health of livestock during this peak period of animal trade. We aim to ensure that both buyers and sellers can engage in fair and healthy trade practices, especially in the lead-up to the holy festival of Eid-ul-Adha.”

The director also urged livestock traders to cooperate with the department’s field staff and to refrain from bringing sick or unfit animals to the market.

Sheep Husbandry Department has set up multiple veterinary assistance camps in major mandis across the Valley to provide on-spot health checkups, vaccinations, and advisory services to livestock owners.
