Srinagar: The J&K Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (J&K-PYCC) on Friday filed a complaint with the police in Srinagar against ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker from Udhampur East assembly seat, R.S Pathania, for allegedly calling the Indian Air Force (IAF) “incompetent” and criticizing its role during Operation Sindoor.

Following a protest demonstration at the party headquarters in Srinagar, the J&K-PYCC members led by its president Yasir Mandoo, filed a criminal complaint against Pathania for making derogatory remarks against the IAF personnel stationed at Udhampur air base.

A formal case against the BJP MLA was requested in the complaint, which was filed at the Shaheed Gunj police station here this evening. The Congress youth wing demanded that the BJP leader be held accountable for his comments, accusing him of offending the patriotic sentiments of hundreds of thousands of people across India.

“Entire opposition including the Congress urged the prime minister to strike Pakistan in retaliation for the killing of 26 innocent people in Baisaran, Pahalgam last month. Differences with the BJP government aside, we were united in the war against terrorism. Nevertheless, our feelings were hurt when a sitting BJP MLA spoke out against our Air Force,” Mandoo told the media.

The demonstrations against the BJP and its Udhampur East MLA will continue until the saffron party does not take any action against their party man, he claimed.

“The police have promised to address our concerns after we filed a complaint against BJP MLA R.S. Pathania at the Shaheed Gunj police station. Given that hundreds of thousands of people throughout India are affected by the issue, we hope the accused will be imprisoned soon,” he added.
