Lone re-elected Sheeri Beopar Mandal president

Sheeri, July 09:  Sheeri Shopkeepers Welfare Union ( Beopar Mandal Sheeri) Baramulla, held its elections on Sunday in which former president Bashir Ahmed Lone was re-elected as president while as Basit Ahmed Bhat was elected as General Secretary.

Three candidates Bashir Ahmed Lone, Dr. Shabir Ahmad Bagwan, Ghulam Hussan Lone were in the fray as presidential candidate while as three candidates including Abdul Basit Bhat, Imtiyaz Ahmed Lone and Manzoor Ahmed Mir had filed for selection as General Secretary.

Out of 176 votes, 173 were polled in which Bashir Ahmed Lone got 88 votes, while as Dr. Shabir Ahmad got 63 and Ghulam Hussan got 24. Bashir Ahmed Lone got re-elected as president for the period of four years.

For the Secretary post, Abdul Basit Bhat topped the contest with 85 votes, while as Mir got 58 votes and Imtiyaz bagged 30 votes respectively.

The elections were held in free and fair manner under the supervision of Election Commissioner Imtiyaz Ahmed Bhat and his team while as Chief Election Observer Reyaz Ahmed Ganai along with representatives of Beopar Mandal Baramulla including President Mohmmad Ashraf Ganai, General Secretary Tariq Ahmed Magloo, Election Commissioner Iftikar Ahmed Zaroo took part in counting and declaration of results and later administered oath ceremony.
