‘Sumbali Mawas festival’ celebrated after 35 years at Nand Kishore Temple in Sumbal

BANDIPORA: After a gap of 35 years, the traditional Hindu festival ‘Sumbali Mawas’ was today celebrated with religious fervor at the Nand Kishore Temple in Sumbal.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri visited the temple, participated in the celebrations, and ensured the smooth conduct of the festival.

DC also interacted with members of the local Pandit community, who expressed immense joy at the revival of this significant religious tradition.

Community members highlighted the spiritual importance of ‘Sumbali Mawas,’ noting that its observance after more than three decades symbolized the revival of heritage besides strengthened cultural unity in the region.

The celebrations included special prayers and rituals dedicated to Nand Kishore Maharaj, marking a spiritually uplifting moment for the devotees.

While interacting with the devotees, DC stated that the administration is committed to promoting communal harmony and ensuring that such festivals are celebrated with dignity and full support.
