Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kupwara and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that one Shahzad Ahmad Shiekh, son of Bashir Ahmad Shiekh, resident of Kupwara was arrested at Main Road Tikker near Radio Station Kupwara, after her search yielded “substantial amount” of cannabis-like substance. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking for petty monetary gains, police said.
One Zubair Ahmad Fafu, son of Abdul Rasheed Fafu, resident of Nowhaman Sopore, was arrested at Chankan Sopore. During the search, 12 strips (96 capsules) of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, a banned psychotropic substance, were recovered from his possession.
Cases have been registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, police said.
