The Congress leaders expressed condolences to the family of martyr Dr. Thapa, terming his loss a great tragedy for society. His dedication and people-friendly approach were deeply appreciated by all. He sacrificed his life in the line of duty for the nation. The leaders shared the family’s grief and prayed for peace for the departed soul.

JKPCC President Karra told the bereaved family that the Congress Party demands the recognition of martyrdom for all who have laid down their lives for the nation in armed conflicts between the two countries.

Later, the delegation visited Trewa village in Arnia to pay homage to martyr Sunil Kumar, who lost his life in R.S. Pura while serving in the armed forces. They shared the grief of the family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

The leaders also interacted with the local population and listened to their hardships, as they are frequently made soft targets of Pakistani shelling.

Karra said that people living near the border are the worst sufferers of Indo-Pakistan tensions, especially due to Pakistan’s repeated mischief and provocations. For the past two to three generations, these communities have endured immense losses over the last 75 years.

He stated that despite knowing it cannot fight a conventional war with a powerful nation like India, Pakistan continues to target civilian populations along the borders and the Line of Control. Despite its division in the 1971 war, Pakistan has failed to learn its lesson and continues its hostile behavior. He expressed regret that global powers have failed to restrain Pakistan from engaging in such mischief and misadventures that cause bloodshed among civilians.

Calling Pakistan a rogue state and a breeding ground for terrorism, Karra noted that it is increasingly being isolated and denied financial aid. Shockingly, even two days prior to the latest armed conflict with India — and despite the carnage in Pahalgam — it received massive financial support from the IMF.

The senior Congress leaders also supported the long-standing demand for fully equipped bunkers across all border areas. They emphasized that new warfare techniques and modern weaponry pose a significant threat to the civilian population in most border districts.
