Uri: A bomb disposal squad was deployed in the Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) following recent shelling by Pakistani forces, raising concerns over potential unexploded ordnance in civilian areas.

Local authorities have appealed to residents to remain alert and report any suspicious objects, particularly near residential or agricultural zones. Lamberdar (village head) of Garkote, Shakoor Ahmad, issued a public notice urging villagers to inform him immediately if they spot any live shells. “Do not touch or approach suspicious objects. Call my number right away so experts can handle the situation safely,” he said.

MLA Uri, Dr. Sajjad Shafi Uri, echoed the warning, emphasizing the need for caution. “The safety of our people is paramount. We request everyone to stay vigilant and report anything unusual to the authorities without delay,” he said.

An investigation is underway to assess the threat and locate any remaining unexploded shells in the area. Security forces have intensified patrols, while officials continue to monitor the situation closely.

Authorities have advised residents to avoid open fields and adhere to safety guidelines until the area is declared fully secure. Further updates will be provided as the operation progresses.
