A case was registered at Police Station Pattan, and during investigation police zeroed in on one Nazir Ahmad Dar, son of Sanaullah Dar of Hygam Sopore, police said. Despite multiple raids at various locations, the suspect managed to evade arrest, which only reinforced the police’s suspicion about his involvement. Based on specific intelligence and technical inputs, police finally nabbed the accused from a vehicle (JK05M 0894) while he was driving towards Mirgund.

Accordingly, a checkpoint was laid, where the accused was apprehended tactfully along with the said vehicle. Upon sustained questioning, the accused confessed to the commission of the theft and disclosed the location where the stolen copper coils were concealed. The stolen property has since been recovered and seized. The said vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
