Sopore: In a decisive move against terror infrastructure, police in Sopore on Monday attached the immovable property of a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), said a police spokesperson.
“The action targeted Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, son of Abdul Khaliq Kandoo, a resident of Kralteng, Sopore, who is a Pakistan-based handler affiliated with the banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen,” the spokesperson said.
“The attached property includes a 13×12 feet land parcel, comprising one shop and one room, located under Survey No. 780 Min in Kralteng, Sopore. The property was linked to an ongoing investigation under FIR No. 201/2013, registered at Police Station Sopore in connection with terror-related activities,” he said.
“The attachment was executed by a joint team of Sopore Police and Revenue Department officials under Sections 87 and 88 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), following due sanction from a competent court. Authorities said the property was liable to be used for harbouring terrorists and facilitating unlawful operations in the region. Further investigation into the case is ongoing,” he added.
