RCWA organizes awareness lecture on Women’s Health at GC CRPF Srinagar

Srinagar: A lecture on Women’s Health was held today under the aegis of the RCWA (Regional Committee for Women’s Affairs), GC, CRPF Srinagar.

The event featured expert sessions by Dr. Lubna Khurshid, a renowned Rheumatologist, and Dr. Naseefa, a gynaecologist from Paras Health Hospital, Srinagar.

The session commenced with a warm welcome by Sangeeta Kumar, President, RCWA GC Srinagar, who presented floral bouquets to the guest speakers as a mark of respect and appreciation.

Dr. Lubna Khurshid delivered an informative lecture focusing on Arthritis, with particular emphasis on Rheumatoid Arthritis, one of the most common autoimmune conditions affecting women. She also provided free consultations to several attendees during the event.

Dr. Naseefa led a comprehensive session on cervical cancer prevention, highlighting the importance of early detection and the role of HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccines. She underscored that cervical cancer continues to be a leading cause of death among women, especially in developing countries. Her presentation included detailed insights on Pap smear screening, symptoms, risk factors, and safe sexual practices. Around 30 women availed themselves of free consultations on cervical cancer-related concerns.

Approximately 65 women, including CRPF personnel residing in the campus, participated in the awareness program. The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with attendees engaging in interactive discussions and seeking expert advice.

As a token of gratitude, Sangeeta Kumar presented mementos to both doctors for their valuable contributions. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Annu Arya, Senior Medical Officer, GC CRPF Srinagar.

The initiative was lauded for raising critical awareness about women’s health issues and empowering participants with knowledge for early intervention and better care.
