Bijbehara: A foundation named Shaad Memorial Foundation has been formally established in Bijbehara, Anantnag, in memory of the distinguished poet, writer, critic, translator, and historian, the late Professor Ghulam Mohammad Shaad.
The announcement was made by Professor Shaad’s son, Arifeen Shad, who emphasized the foundation’s commitment to preserving and promoting the literary and intellectual legacy of his father. The foundation brings together admirers of Professor Shaad and lovers of literature from across the region.
As its first major initiative, the Shaad Memorial Foundation will undertake the compilation and publication of Kulliyat-e-Shaad — a comprehensive collection of Professor Shaad’s published and unpublished works. The project aims to make his diverse contributions to literature and scholarship accessible to a wider audience.
Professor G.M. Shaad, who passed away recently, is remembered as one of the most influential literary figures of his time, known for his deep engagement with Kashmiri and Urdu literature and his scholarly insight into history and translation.
The foundation plans to host literary events, discussions, and educational programs in the future to carry forward Professor Shaad’s vision and passion for intellectual and cultural enrichment.
