SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in several areas of Srinagar and parts of South Kashmir to facilitate critical maintenance and upgradation works.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the installation of isolators at the GIS Tengpora station will necessitate the shutdown of the 33 kV GIS Tengpora KP Bagh Line, Exhibition Line, and Narkara Line. As a result, the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at KP Bagh, Jawahar Nagar, Batmaloo, Exhibition, Rajbagh, Narkara, and Gangbugh will remain shut. Consequently, power supply to these areas and their adjoining localities will remain affected on April 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM.

In a separate operation aimed at stabilizing the 11 KV Feeder 04 from Sazgaripora to Aali Masjid for providing power to the STP Plant at Ali Jan Road, the 33 kV Khanyar Line will be shut down. This will impact the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Khanyar, Rainawari, and Takenwari, leading to power outages in Miskeen Bagh, Rosebal, Hazaribagh, Kondebal, Hasanabad, Jogi Lankar, Palpora, Sangam, JLNM Hospital, and surrounding areas on April 15, 17, and 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.

Additionally, the shutdown of the 33KV Bagh-i-Ali Mardan Khan–Takenwari line (under STD-1st) will also take place on April 15, 17, and 19, 2025, affecting power supply to Fateh Kadal, Khayam, Khankahi Mohalla, and nearby areas during the same time period (10:00 AM to 04:00 PM). Receiving stations at Khanyar, Rainawari, and Takenwari will remain off during this shutdown as well.

Meanwhile, in South Kashmir, the upgradation of the 33KV Wanpoh SICOP line from 0.1 ACSR to 0.2 ACSR conductor will require shutdown of the said line. As a result, 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Shamsipora, SICOP, Zirpara, Veeri, Cheniwader, and Shuhul Flour Mill will remain shut, impacting power supply to Veer, Srigufwara, Zirpara, Shamsipora, and Bijbehara SICOP areas on April 14 and 17, 2025, from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM.

KPDCL has urged the public to bear with the inconvenience and plan accordingly, as these shutdowns are essential for system enhancement and a reliable power supply in the future.
