Srinagar, Jul 05 : Breaking its hitherto “meaningful silence” over the banner of revolt raised by its own legislators and their supporters against it, beleaguered Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said the party would hold parlays with disgruntled leaders soon to address their grievances.

Locals news agency KNS quoted PDP chief spokesperson, Rafi Ahmad Mir as claiming that the party has “not taken any cognizance of the statements made by the disgruntled leaders” as the party president Mehbooba Mufti is out of station.

He said once the president arrives here, they will take cognizance of the statements made by the leaders.

“We do not appreciate the statements made by the leaders so far, but they are part of the party and may have expressed their anger earlier as well. Once we start the party activities, we will hold parlays with them and we hope that their alienation would come to end,” he said.

Mir said “we hope that redressal of the grievances will be done and no harsh step will be taken against any leader as all these persons have played pivotal role in the party and were chosen by the former chief minister Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. We don’t want to harm the party.”

“We appeal the party leaders that there is no need to get disgruntled as party leadership was putting every effort to do the best. We want to help the people and at present they need us. People may be against us but we have done whatever was possible during our tenure and will try to do so in the future as well,” he said.
