Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police spokesperson informed that in Shopian, at a checkpoint established at Girward Zawoora, two persons — Basharat Ali, son of Bahadur Ali, and Mohammad Mushtaq Thakker, son of Abdul Rashid Thakker, both residents of Dandoot, Rajouri – were arrested after 739 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.

In Sopore, one Shakir Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Nabi Khan of Reban was arrested after 103 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigation, police said.
