Srinagar: The Fate of hundreds of NEET-SS candidates from Kashmir hangs in the balance as many of them couldn’t travel to Jammu, Delhi and other places on Friday, as many flights were cancelled at the Srinagar airport due to strong winds.

News agency KNO reported that many candidates had booked air tickets to reach their examination centres to appear in the examination scheduled to be held on Saturday morning. However, there was complete chaos at the Srinagar Airport today due to cancellation of flights.

Several candidates said that aspirants from Kashmir are forced to spend more than Rs 20,000 per head and at least two to three days of travel to other states to appear in the examination.

“We often face such issues as we are facing today. If an exam centre could be set up in Jammu, why can’t they also be set up in Kashmir for the aspirants from the valley?” they said.

“We are made to pay through our proverbial noses for flight tickets and hotel accommodations. And then we have to also face uncertainty due to weather vagaries as is the case today,” aspirants said.

They once again requested concerned authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps to set up NEET-SS examination centres in Kashmir from next session.

Pertinently, candidates during the last few years have many times written to the National Board of Examinations and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other authorities to set up examination centers in Kashmir. (KNO)
