Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Monday called for the construction of a motorable road from GPO Srinagar to Presentation Convent School to alleviate the traffic congestion in the city centre.

In a statement released from the party headquarters, State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar emphasized the importance of establishing a motorable road between the GPO and Presentation Convent School to address the traffic issues in the city.

He highlighted that the previous NC-led government had planned to build this crucial bridge in 2014, along with refurbishing zero bridge for light vehicular traffic. “However, the BJP-PDP government halted the projects and converted the proposed motorable bridges into footbridges for reasons known to them.”

Imran expressed gratitude to MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardesi for bringing up the issue in the Legislative Assembly and commended the government’s response.

He said, “Ahsan has accurately represented the concerns and longstanding demands of the people of Srinagar by advocating for a motorable bridge between GPO and Presentation Convent. This connectivity is essential and will offer relief to commuters, reduce traffic congestion on Abdullah Bridge, and save time for students and office workers.”
