Poonch, July 5: A 36-year-old policeman was crushed to death by a speedy tipper in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning.

Reports reaching GNS said that the mishap occurred when the tipper (JK02BJ-7035) hit a motorbike (PB32Q-4969) at Draba area resulting in on spot death of the bike rider.

The tipper was on its way to Surankote from Buffliaz when the accident took place, they said.

The deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, 36, son of Mohd Yousuf of Chandimar, a SgCt (Police Constable) was posted at JKAP 6th battalion B company in the border district and was heading towards the office when he got killed in the incident.

SSP Poonch Rajeev Pandey while confirming the mishap told GNS that the tipper was immediately seized by the police team concerned led by SHO Mohd Anzar Mir.

“The accused driver, however, fled from the spot soon after the incident. A hunt has been launched to nab him,” SSP said.

He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations were taken up.(GNS)
