First-ever e-FIR registered in Kulgam

Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have registered its first electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) at PS Qazigund, following a complaint lodged via WhatsApp.

A police spokesperson informed that the complaint was filed by Bashir Ahmad Khanday, wherein he stated that on March 12, 2025 an unknown person took away his ATM card at the ATM booth in Chowgam and subsequently withdrew an amount of Rs 22,000 from his bank account.

After examining the complaint, the police took cognizance of the matter and registered an e-FIR under case FIR No. 38/2025 under section 303, 318 BNS at Police Station Qazigund. The investigation of the case has been initiated, police said.
