Baramulla, Mar 04: Inhabitants of several villages in the Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have expressed resentment against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide them with adequate electricity, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking to Kashmir Images, the residents said they are not receiving electricity as per the schedule and are facing tremendous hardships, particularly during Sehri and Iftar times.

Locals from Warapora, Baba Reshi, Hajibal, Ziran, Mullabangil, Fajipora, Budipora, and the main town of Tangmarg said they receive electricity for merely two to four hours a day.

Jahangir Ahmad Bhat stated that despite paying “hefty” electricity bills, the power department has failed to ensure an adequate power supply. He said people are being pushed to the wall by being forced to reel under darkness.

“Despite consistently paying my electricity bills on time, the supply remains unreliable. We barely receive electricity for 10 minutes to an hour within 24 hours. This is causing immense hardship, particularly during Ramadan,” he added.

The locals have urged the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Baramulla and the Managing Director (MD) of KPDCL to address the ongoing electricity shortages and ensure an adequate power supply during this holy month.
