Jammu: The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that there are 32474 vacancies in different departments.

In a written response to question of MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who happens to be minister in-charge, General Administration Department informed the House that there are 32474 vacancies in different departments as on January 31, 2025.

As per the reply, there are 2503 gazetted vacancies, 19214 non- gazetted vacancies and 10757 multi-tasking staff vacancies.

According to the government, 3727 vacancies have been referred to Jammu & Kashmir Service Selection Board and Public Service Commission since October 16, 2024 when the elected government led by Omar Abdullah took oath.

Of these, 738 are gazetted posts, 1754 non-gazetted posts and 1235 multi-tasking slots.

The government also disclosed that it has collected Rs 14.17 crore examination fee from students appearing in recruiting tests conducted by SSB and PSC.

To a question by the MLA whether the government intends to make job application forms fee for job aspirants, the government said that no such proposal is under consideration by the government.

“Presently, no such proposal is under consideration in the Government,” it said—(KNO)
